We’re a brand built on sustainability, with a mission to care for your clothes and our planet.

The use of wildly toxic chemicals and an unacceptable carbon footprint, paired with inequitable work environments, led us to consider how we could build a brand that functioned differently— with a bigger goal in mind.

We’re a little different.

Our shops are clean energy-powered with high-efficiency machines that save significant water and electricity. We use plant-powered, non-toxic, biodegradable detergents, making our wash & fold safe for you and our environment. Our dry cleaning process forgoes standard commercial toxic solvents, a safe way to look after your items that require special care.

Our causes and initiatives range from environmental to social; from our tree planting program to inclusion and equality in the workplace, The Eco Laundry Company is built on progress. As a New York-based, queer-owned, majority-immigrant small business that relies on a female-managed operations facility, we look to align ourselves with forward-thinking businesses and organizations, proudly supporting community causes.

We've worked with local public schools, sustainability organizations, and assistance programs such as Ali Forney Center and The Laundry Truck, providing laundry access and connections to social services for those experiencing homelessness or poverty.

Since we opened in 2012, our following has grown to include a community of like-minded residential and business customers. Business clients range from wellness-oriented companies to art galleries and fashion houses; we've proudly collaborated with G-Star RAW (For The Oceans), UrbanEarsBear's Fruit KombuchaValpo Surf Project, and WeForest.

With sustainability in mind, we humbly consider The Eco Laundry Company a work in progress, doing what we can, when we can. Small actions can make a big difference; join the movement.
